The
McGovern's
Kings Park, NY
First
off let me say that the midi on this page is for my wife and her
Mom, and our daughter the three 'Graces', so naturally they like
it. I guess I'm the 'wretch' who's saved. C'est le amore!
The
lady in red is my lovely wife Grace, the other lovely lady to
her right is her mom - also Grace. We've got a brood of four.
F.X. the guy with the Mets cap is the oldest, at 14 he is quite
an accomplished bag piper, and just recently his band marched
first in the St. Patricks Day Parade in NYC, NY. The guy in the
blue jacket is Kieran, he's 12 and is the actor in the family
- accents are his specialty. The guy in yellow is Brendan, 8 years
old, he's our little gift from God - about three years ago he
contracted a virus that destroyed his heart and had to have a
heart transplant - he's also the brains in the family. The little
lady with the bow is my darling Grace Kelly aged 6, who has been
trying her hand - actually feet - at Irish step dancing. I'm the
gray haired guy in the yellow shirt. I am the MIS Director for
a IGHL Inc., a nonprofit agency that cares for the developmentally
disabled.
Welcome
aboard!
Concerning
my family previous to marriage - I'm the oldest of seven children
born to Donald Eugene and Mary Bergen McGovern. My brothers and
sisters are: Coleen, Donald, William, Terrence, Kathleen, and
Michael. We grew up most of our lives in N.J. I was born in Jersey
City N.J., as were most of my siblings, mom and dad, as well as
McGovern grandparents.
My
dad was the youngest of three children born to Francis John McGovern
and Florence Broadhurst. He had a brother Frank (Francis Xavier)
who died at the Battle of the Bulge, and a sister Helen.
My
dads father Francis John, born in 1881,was one of several children
- I honestly don't know all there names - born to Terrence McGovern
(born in Ireland - I think) and 'Toesy' Tumelty. My grandfathers
brothers were Terrence, James, J.C. (Joe), there may have been
others. My grandfather and J.C. worked for the Pennsylvania rail
road, in fact he died on the job - crushed while coupling two
trains. Terry and J.C. were both in WW I. Terry was a policeman
for a long time in Jersey City - from the twenties until he retired
and then he worked for Standard Oil Corporation (now Exxon).
Unfortunately
I don't know much more than that - but hope I will find out more.
